HPSA Triathlete Lucy Bowden: ‘The process of creating something is just as important if not more important than the outcome’

Article borrowed from Lucy Bowden’s blog

Athletes work hard. We work hard for one goal or several goals, however, how many athletes actually take the time to appreciate how much work (outside of themselves) it takes to create and execute a project/goal.

Do we thank and praise our coach enough for the years they’ve spent on upskilling their knowledge with the intent to create future champions?

Do we thank the pool staff in the morning for maintaining a clean and ideal swimming environment?

What about your parents, your supporters the ones you don’t pay to be there?

Remember all the people that have helped you, fed you, supported you along the way, as Jimmy Durante says – be kind to people on the way up – you’ll meet them again on the way down.

Embrace creating the project, believe in the process, trust it, work for it.

I’ll always be grateful for my team – I know I wouldn’t be here on the Sunshine Coast without them, doing what I love, not just within triathlon, but my Creative Studies and being able to see the younger generation pursue sporting dreams.

I know I can always do better so, I’ll continue to strive whilst showing gratitude to those around me in more ways than just words.

Be Kind,
LB
